ISL Teacher – Part Time
Job Title: Irish Sign Language (ISL) Teacher
Reporting to: ISL Manager
Location: Deaf Village Ireland, Cabra Road, Dublin 7 & other Locations associated with Reach Deaf Services.
Salary: €29,813.94 per annum
Contract Type: 12 months Fixed-term specified-purpose contract with possibility for extension.
Hours of Work: Part Time /20 hours per week
Purpose
Reach Deaf Services provides services to the Deaf Community, including supported living service, and boarding campus for Deaf children attending the Holy Family School for the Deaf.

Reach Deaf Services is currently seeking compassionate, motivated, and flexible individuals to join our ISL Team as Irish Sign Language Teacher to deliver Reach Deaf Services’ ISL Strategy and promoting, Irish Sign Language, Deaf culture, communication access, and inclusive practice across the organisation.
The successful candidates will be involved in delivering high-quality ISL teaching, developing learning programs, supporting learners and staff, and collaborating across teams to strengthen the visibility and use of Irish Sign Language. The successful candidate will be flexible, collaborative, and committed to continuous high educational standards.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following)
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging Irish Sign Language programs across Levels 1, 2, and 3.
- Ensure teaching practice reflects recognised language learning principles and CEFR-aligned learner progression.
- Create inclusive learning environments that support learners with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles.
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support continued development.
- Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement.
- Support staff to develop confidence and competence in the use of Irish Sign Language within their professional practice.
- Develop, review, and update ISL curriculum materials and learning resources.
- Create bespoke learning materials, various communication supports, resources to meet individual and organisational learning needs.
- Ensure learning content reflects current best practice in ISL teaching, Deaf culture, and adult learning.
- Support the continuous improvement of teaching materials, methodologies, and learning experiences.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Reach Deaf Services ISL Strategy and initiatives that promote Irish Sign Language, Deaf culture, communication access, and inclusive practice across the organisation.
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary ISL Team and across departments and external stakeholders to support strategic objectives and organisational priorities.
- Maintain awareness of developments relating to the Irish Sign Language Act and support organisational understanding of relevant obligations, opportunities, and best practice.
- Maintain knowledge of current developments within ISL teaching, Deaf education and inclusive practice.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience): .
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor in Deaf Studies (CDS) with ISL Teaching pathway (TCD)/Recognised qualification in Sign Language Teaching.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching Irish Sign Language.
- Knowledge and understanding of CEFR principles and their application to language teaching and learner progression.
- Experience developing lesson plans, learning resources, and curriculum materials.
- Strong IT and digital communication skills.
Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, the Council for Irish Sign Language Teachers
