Welcome to Reach Deaf Services. Reach Deaf Services provide various services to the Deaf community including residential support services through St Joseph’s House for Adult Deaf and DeafBlind people, the St Joseph’s and St Mary’s Boarding Campuses, and the National Chaplaincy for Deaf People (NCDP). The National Deaf Village Sports and Leisure Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reach Deaf Services and is run by directors appointed from Deaf community organisations including Reach Deaf Services, Deaf Sports Ireland and the Dublin Deaf Association. This policy explains how we handle and use your personal information and your rights in relation to that information.
Reach Deaf Services (“The Organisation”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.
This policy describes the way we handle and use the personal information that we obtain from all the different interactions you may have with us as a service user, a parent or relative of a service user, or when you contact us.
Your privacy on the Internet is important to us. As the Internet offers the ability to collect certain types of information about users, we want you to understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture, use and processing of any information relating to you which we gather.
Reach Deaf Services complies with the requirements of the relevant European Data Protection legislation based on the jurisdiction of our main establishment in the Republic of Ireland, namely:
- The General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679)
- The Irish Data Protection Act (2018)
- The EC (Electronic Communications Regulation) Act 2011.
Reach Deaf Services have registered offices at: Deaf Village Ireland, Ratoath Road, Dublin 7, Ireland and we are a company registered in Ireland under company number 197899, with Charity Number CHY 1394 and Registered Charity Number2002138. We act as the data controller when processing your data on www.cidp.ie and www.ncdp.ie.

2. What Information Does Reach Deaf Services Collect
Where personal data is provided by a cidp.ie or ncdp.ie visitor, the system collects the following pieces of personal information through the web site such as:

12.1 What choices do I have?
You can always opt not to disclose information to us, but keep in mind some information may be needed to respond to your queries or to provide you with services.
12.3 Marketing Communications
You can opt-out of receiving certain promotional or marketing communications from us at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in the emails communications we send. If you avail of our services, we will still send you non-promotional communications, like service-related emails.
13. How Can I Exercise My Data Subject Rights?
All individuals have the right to a copy of personal information we hold relating to them. This is achieved through a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR). A DSAR can be submitted by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, indicating the scope of personal data required.
In order to be valid, a DSAR must be in writing (paper-based or e-mail will suffice) and the requestor may be required to provide adequate evidence of their identity, in order to avoid the inadvertent disclosure of another person’s information.
We will respond to all DSARs as quickly as possible, but in any event, within one month of receipt of the validated request. Furthermore, Reach Deaf Services respects all of the rights of data subjects as articulated in the GDPR.

14. International Data Transfers
Reach Deaf Services do not transfer your personal information outside of Europe however as mentioned above some of our third-party processors may do so.
All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers which are located within the European Economic Area (EEA).
If at any time we transfer your personal information to, or store it in, countries located outside of the EEA (for example, if our hosting services provider changes) we will amend this policy and notify you of the changes. We will also ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for that transfer and storage as required by applicable law. This is because some countries outside of the EEA do not have adequate data protection laws equivalent to those in the EEA. If we transfer your personal information to the United States of America, we will only send the personal information to companies that participate in the Privacy Shield framework (or such other framework that may replace it from time to time) or for which we have an alternative safeguard in place in accordance with applicable law. Where they apply to our data transfer activities, we may rely on adequacy decisions by the European Commission about certain countries for data transfers to countries outside the EEA.
The St Mary’s and St Joseph’s Boarding Campuses provide services to children. We work with parents and children to ensure that we can best meet the needs of the individual. We also document various aspects of the care of the child. Prior to a child turning 18 years of age, will work with the young person in preparation for them becoming an adult. At the age of 18, we will off young people the choice as to whether we should communicate directly with them exclusively, or if we will continue to communicate with their parents too. We take the security of your personal information seriously and use a variety of measures based on good industry practice to keep it secure. Nonetheless, transmissions over the internet and to our Site may not be completely secure, so please exercise caution. We employ security measures to protect the personal information you provide to us, to prevent access by unauthorised persons and unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction and damage.
The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do everything possible to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any personal information during its transmission to us online. You accept the inherent security implications of using the internet and will not hold us responsible for any breach of security unless we are at fault.
If you are using a computer or terminal in a public location, we recommend that you always log out and close the website browser when you complete an online session for your security. In addition, we recommend that you take the following security measures to enhance your online safety:
- When creating a password, we recommend use at least 8 characters with a combination of letters and numbers.
- We recommend you frequently change your password.
- Keep your passwords private. Remember, anyone who knows your password may access your account.
- Avoid using the same password for multiple online accounts.
- We will never ask you to confirm any account or credit card details via email. If you receive such an email claiming to be from Reach Deaf Services asking you to do so, please ignore it and do not respond and report it to us.
