Sign Language Interpreting Service
The goal of SLIS is to ensure that Deaf people can live as full and equal citizens with easy access to relevant public, educational and social services, and exercise their rights and entitlements, including under the ISL Act, Equal Status and Disability Acts. SLIS will promote, represent, advocate and ensure the availability of quality interpretation services to Deaf people in Ireland. SLIS is currently recruiting for a:

Temporary Half Time Position (to 31st December 2022)
The Role
To support the expansion of the remote interpreting service IRIS under the National Disability Inclusion Strategy, Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) is seeking to recruit Irish Sign Language / English Sign Language Interpreters (must be registered with RISLI) for temporary (half time) vacancies for the Irish Remote Interpreting Service (IRIS).
The Irish Sign Language/ English Interpreter provides interpretive support, primarily for the Irish Remote Interpreting Service, but also to the Manager, SLIS Board and team, acting as interpreter for SLIS meetings and business needs where required. The role will also involve cooperation with the trialling of new technology and developments in IRIS, including developments with respect to an APP for access to remote interpreting services.
ISL / English Sign Language Interpreters for IRIS
This advertisement is for Irish Sign Language / English Interpreters to fill temporary or fixed term vacancies up to 31 December 2022. Half time posts are 17.5 hours per week.
Hours
Interpreters will be rostered during IRIS opening hours, which will fall within the following:
Weekdays: 8.00 am – 8.00 pm including lunchtimes
Weekends: Saturday 10.00 am – 4pm and Sunday 12.00 noon – 2.00 pm
Salary
The salary for full time posts is on a salary scale from €28,399 to €47,331 (13 points, inclusive of two Long Service Increments (LSIs)) per annum, pro rata for part time staff. Candidates will usually be appointed at point 1. Candidates can be appointed at a higher point on the scale using the SLIS Incremental Credit Process which is dependent on qualifications and experience as demonstrated from the application form and interview process. SLIS has a normal retirement age which is linked to the State Pension Age in Ireland (currently 66).
All posts are subject to funding from Citizens Information Board.

Applications will be processed and assessed on a weekly basis and positions will be filled on a first come first served basis. A panel of interpreters may also be created to fill full and part time vacancies up until 31 December 2022.
