International Charity Bazaar Funding

22.12.16

The CIDP would like to acknowledge the support of the International Charity Bazaar (ICB) for their very generous support. CIDP is a beneficiary of the funds raised through the Diplomatic Ball, Annual Charity Bazaar and Sponsorship.

The International Charity Bazaar is a voluntary fundraising organisation of the Diplomatic Corps in Dublin, supports Irish registered charities. Its President is Italian Ambassador, Giovanni Adorni-Braccesi and Dena O’Malley, wife of the US Ambassador, is Chairperson. Each year the ICG undertake various initiatives aimed at raising funds for nominated Irish charities while promoting the cultural heritage of communities

The Annual Bazaar was a great event with large numbers of people attending and over 30 Embassies sharing their culture, food, drinks, crafts and gifts. CIDP staff had the pleasure of attending this event and meeting the Presidents wife Sabina Higgins and the Ambassadors using the opportunity to discuss the work that CIDP does and also teaching them basic Irish Sign Language.

The CIDP was one of the eight chosen charities to be displayed at the event along with, Cork Counselling Service LTD, Daisy Housing Association LTD, Enable Ireland Mayo Service, Irish Guide Dogs for Blind, Mater Foundation, St John Ambulance Castleknock and Third Age Foundation.

The money that was raise for CIDP will go towards After School Activities for Deaf Children. This is a very important project for CIDP as due to cultural and linguistic barriers, Deaf children can experience exclusion and marginalisation in community activities that are designed for the hearing population. Because the Deaf School residence does not have resources to develop after-school education activities, funding for this project will provide opportunities that will enhance the ability of these children to work as a team and develop discipline and knowledge through a programme that would be active on regular basis.

“The International Charity Bazaar is an inspiring example of a community spirit that is not limited by borders or nationality.  The focus of the Charity Bazaar is to build and develop the relationship between the diplomatic and host communities in Ireland, recognising all that we share in common and celebrating the vibrant and multi-cultural dimension of the society in which we live and work.”  (President of Ireland Michael D Higgins at the 2013 ICB Diplomatic Ball)

CIDP is extremely grateful for the support of ICB and its various sponsors and looks forward to putting to very good use the funds in creating activities and opportunity for our children.
